In 2024 we, as a nation spent 83 Billion dollars in foreign aid. Yet we are in debt. We are so far in debt that no one seems to how to get us out of it. And yet our government officials continue to spend more money, increasing our debt like they are playing with Monopoly money and they are looking to go bankrupt in the next round. But our government, the government that is supposed to rule and protect the people has some how lost it’s purpose. Or it would be more accurate that the purpose was bought by big businesses and now the government’s main purpose is to support big businesses. Laws are passed to give big businesses tax right offs. Huge subsidies go out to keep our farmers from going bankrupt but the reason those subsidies continue is to benefit major businesses that continue to make billions. But the largest subsidies go to companies – Amazon, Tesla, Bowing, and ExonMobile – each of them receiving subsidies in the billions. But we can’t afford to make sure the children in our nation have enough to eat? We can’t afford to have one payer healthcare? Why is the American people ok with handing out free money to companies who are already receiving our money, whose sole purpose is to make money, who refuse to pay their employees a living wage or provide them with adequate healthcare? We are ok with them receiving Billions of dollars while we are stuck footing a bill without knowing if social security will be around when we retire. How has the American public become so turned around to think that a company deserves free money for nothing because they are powerful, but people who have no power and no ability to change their situation don’t deserve free money. And on top of this we are supporting the economies of other countries, providing them with military and financial support while the least of us have nothing.

The state of California has the 6^th largest economy in the world. The state. One state in our nation has a larger economy than 191 other countries in the world. Yet we can’t afford to feed our people. How have we allowed this to happen? I would argue that as voters we have continued to vote with our immediate wallet needs and refuse to vote with our morals. Donald Trump is not a good person. People will argue all sorts of ways that they believe he would be or is a good President. None of their arguments point to him being a good person. For some reason we, as a population believe that a President needs to be a rude tough guy in order to be a good President. Now I am not arguing that any person who is a good person would be a good President. But I would rather have a good person as President who was ineffective than have to stand beside a President who is a bad person, who is cruel, mean, demeaning, and takes every opportunity to punch down. Why would we, as a people, ever believe that this is the way forward for our nation?
